June 27 & 28, 2008
A community festival scheduled the 4th weekend of June
each year featuring an Arts & Craft show, street dance,
parade, kids tractor pull, and talent show. 

Song of Hiawatha Pageant
July 18, 19, 25 & 26 and Aug 1 & 2 2008
From Longfellow's poem.  A beautiful pageant held in a large
outdoor natural amphitheater. Elaborate lighting and lovely
costumes and a cast of 200 make this a truly unforgettable

Civil War Festival
Aug 16 & 17 2008
The Pipestone Civil War Festival is a celebration of our past
in a beautiful historic setting.  Scheduled activities for the
weekend include both Infantry and Artillery maneuvers, an
authentic reenactment of a Civil War battle and numerous 

demonstrations of historic life.

Hwy 75 King of Trails Market Place
September 13
414- mile rummage sale beginning in Luverne and traveling up
Highway 75 to the Canadian border.  Communities along with way 
will have areas designated for their rummage sale area.  

Pipestone's will be located at the Pipestone County Fairgrounds.

Luverne

Spring City Wide Rummage Sale
April 30
Over 80 households sign up for this annual event. 
Homeowners sign up at the Chamber office and receive
signage for their location.  Maps are printed with the
locations and there is advertising.  Visitors travel from
the large area to take in this one day rummage sale

Buffalo Days
June 3, 4 & 5
This three day event begins on Friday evening with a
Cruise In of collector cars.  On Saturday the day
begins with a parade in downtown Luverne at 10:00 AM. 
The annual Arts in the Park begins at 11:00 AM at the
city park.  Over 150 booths with vendors from five
states offer a variety of crafts.  There is a variety
of food booths and entertainment throughout the afternoon. 
On Sunday, the Luverne Chamber sponsors its annual
Buffalo Burger Feed at Blue Mounds State Park.  The
feed is free and over 1200 buffalo burgers are served. 
Admission to the state park is also free on that day.

Prairie Heights Bison "Taste & Tour"
July 4
John and Jeanne Bowron are you hosts for this annual
educational experience related to buffalo (bison). 
Tours are available throughout the day giving spectators
the opportunity to travel into a bison herd and get “up
close and personal” with these shaggy beasts.  Following
the tour visitors are invited to a meal consisting of various
bison products.

43rd Annual Hot Dog Night
July 14
Over 12,000 hot dogs are served by Luverne merchants
to attendees.  The hot dogs and drink are free along with
demonstrations and entertainment.  This is a way the local
businesses thank participants for their patronage throughout
the year.

Minnesota Border to Border Triathlon
July 25
This world class events is a four day marathon that begins
in Luverne with a parade of athletes and kickoff dinner. 
Teams (2-4 persons) bike for two days, run for one day,
and canoe on the final day which ends at the Canadian border. 
The event draws athletes from throughout the nation.

Rock County Fair
August 4, 5 & 6
This three day event is the highlight of the summer for many
of the 4H and FFA students as they display their projects and
receive ribbons for their endeavors.  Along with the judging
there are grandstand events each night, a midway, commercial
exhibits, open class exhibits and food stands to take care of
the hungry crowds.

Fall City Wide Rummage Sale & King of Trails Market Place
September 10

Similar to our spring rummage sale, local households are
encouraged to sell their “treasures” during the fall rummage
sale.  In conjunction, the King of Trails Highway 75 project
holds their Market Place event which is a 400 mile rummage
sale beginning in Luverne and traveling up Highway 75 to
the Canadian border.  Communities along with way will have
areas designated for their rummage sale area.

55th Annual Tri-State Band Festival
September 24
One of the premier high school marching band competition
is held the Saturday in September.  Bands from Minnesota,
Iowa, and South Dakota compete in both street and field
competition.  Street competition begins at 10:00 AM followed
by the field competition at 1:00 PM.  At the completion of the
competition there is a guest band presentation for spectators
and band members.

Holiday Open House
November 17, 18 & 19
Local merchants get together to celebrate the beginning of
the holiday season by holding special sales and offering coffee,
cider, cookies, and other delicacies at their place of business. 
Stores are decorated and the gift selection is best at this time
of the year.

9th Annual Winterfest
December 2, 3 & 4
Who says winter is no fun.  In Luverne the annual Winterfest
is an event that includes a huge craft show at the school
complex, pictures with Santa, snowmobile activities, plus a
beautiful lighted parade in downtown Luverne in the evening
and other special events throughout the weekend.  There
is something for everyone.
