Tour Icelandic Church and other period furnished buildings at
Lincoln County Museum complex site. Lake Hendricks water recreation
area. Syttende Mai celebration in mid-May. Just south of Hendricks
is the Midwest Wind Energy Center which features wind power
information, conference rooms, company offices and lodging.
Ivanhoe:
Beautiful English gardens. Historic county courthouse is on the
National Register of Historic Places. Celebrate Polish Days (Polska
Kielbasa).
Wilno: Polish
settlement. St. John Cantuius Catholic Church known as Cathedral on
the Prairie.
Arco:
Scenic rock statures. Stone-face gas station (not operating).
Creations began in 1936 by H.P. Pederson, include miniature Statue
of Liberty at Anderson Park on Lake Stay, 1 mile east of Arco.
Lake
Benton/Holland: Wind turbines "spin" on the crest of
Buffalo Ridge. Four hundred generate electricity for metro areas,
281 now compromise the largest project in the world. Visit the
Windpower Learning Center at Heritage Center. Attend theatrical
performances at the opera house on the National Register of Historic
Places.
